Use an Applescript app as Default opener

One of my biggest pet peeves with AppleScript is it’s lack of an option for setting custom apps as the default application for opening certain file types. It seems a simple option to change, but hasn’t happened.
Specifically, I wrote a little script for a friend that lets him open ruby files in terminal by dropping them on the App. We thought it would be better to just make the app the default application for opening .rb files. Unfortunately, as mentioned above, it’s not that simple.
That doesn’t mean there isn’t a workaround!
Behold this tip, that tells you exactly how to give your custom Applescript App the authority required to open files by default.
